Princess Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies mourns Comrade Yinka Odumakin and condoles with his wife, the Activist Dr. Joe Odumakin and the entire family, as she mourns her late husband. What a great loss to Yoruba land, the Christian community and the entire Nigeria!
“Mr. Yinka Odumakin is the spokesman of Afenifere, seriously committed his duty as well as, a fighter for democracy, dedicated civil society activist. Odumakin was a courageous and outspoken defender of whatever ideals and principles he believed in and a patriotic citizen of Nigeria.
“Human rights activist, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin has announced the passing of her husband, Comrade Yinka Odumakin. She in a statement said her husband died after a brief illness on Saturday, adding that her husband died while being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19.
The statement read, “The sad event happened this morning (Saturday, 3/4/2021) at the intensive care unit of LASUTH where he was being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19 which he had recovered from about a week ago.
“I appreciate the outpouring of grief and sympathy from home and abroad as I mourn my irreplaceable soulmate. I urge us all to remain steadfast in the cause of the masses to which he dedicated his life.
Funmilayo-Adesanya-Davies hereby joins millions of Nigerians in condoling with Dr. Mrs. Odumakin and her entire family in this sad hour. May the Almighty God comfort and strengthen them in Jesus Christ Precious name, even as they take solace in the massive outpouring of grief nationwide at Yinka’s sudden and painful exit by all. May they take solace also especially for the fact that Yinka is a born again Christian, who has gone to rest in the bossom of the Lord.
May I also express my condolences to Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the Afenifere leader, and all other leaders and members of Afenifere as well as all his associates in the civil society movements, and the entire Christian community in Nigeria.
May his gentle soul rest in peace, where we shall meet to part no more in eternity, amen.
